Thursday Thirteen #14

May 21, 2008

Thirteen things that I have put on Rich’s “Honey-Do” list for this summer.

1.  Finish painting the trim on our house, which was started three years ago.  (You can’t tell by looking at our house that it isn’t finished because the primer is very close to the actual color of the trim, but it still bothers me that it isn’t done.)
2.  Put new tile in our entry way.
3.  Clean out his rec/work area.  And then actually put things back where he gets them from, instead of piling things on top of other things.
4.  Put stain on our new deck.
5.  Fix the refrigerator door.
6.  Redo our kitchen floor.
7.  Paint our bedroom.
8.  Put new carpet in our bedroom.
9.  Paint our bathroom.
10.  Put a new vanity, sink, mirror, medicine cabinet, etc. in our bathroom.
11.  Clean off his shelves in the garage.
12.  Fix our dining room chairs that keep breaking.
13.  Take me away for a romantic weekend getaway.  We are interviewing babysitters (*hint, hint*).

Tackling the Closet

May 20, 2008

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

I am all tackled out this week.  So, we are having a guest tackler today.  This week, without any prompting from me, Rich decided to clean his side of the closet.  When he announced that he was going to do it I told him to get some pictures.  Funny thing is, that didn’t even surprise him.  A year ago if I had told him to take pictures of a messy before closet and a neat after closet he would’ve thought I was crazy.

Anyhoo, I present you with Rich’s side of the closet before:

I actually don’t think it’s that bad.  I was having a hard time putting his clean clothes away due to lots of old clothes taking up space.  The floor is a mess and the stuff on the top was always falling down.  But, I admit I was surprised that Rich thought it was bad enough that it needed cleaning.

And here are the after shots:

Nice and neat on the top with plenty of room for new piles.

Nice and neat on the bottom with plenty of room to throw stuff that doesn’t have a home.

And now that Rich cleaned out his old clothes he has decided that it will be necessary for him to go shopping to fill up all of that empty space.  Guess I should clean my side too, so I can go shopping!

Fun Monday- My Collections

May 19, 2008

Fun Monday’s host this week is Mariposa and here is the assignment she gave us:

“We all have them…and if you don’t, you do….you just may not realize it. For some reason or another we all collect something and we collect it for reasons that will definitely make for good reading. So on Monday, I want to see your collection.”

So, I present to you- my collections.  I am starting upstairs in my living room.

I love Precious Moments, so here is part of my collection of Precious Moments.  The ones on the top shelf were used on our wedding cake- that’s the bride and groom in the middle with the attendants and each side.

And, here are some more Precious Moments.  Be careful not to look too closely because there may or may not be some cobwebs forming.

I also have a collection of tea cups that belonged to my grandmother.

Moving on now to my family room downstairs:

Please shield your eyes from the terrible paneling that we have in our family room.  Here is part of my collection of Boyd’s Bears.

Here are some more of my Boyd’s Bears.  I actually have lots more Boyd’s Bears but since we have only lived here for 4 1/2 YEARS I haven’t had time to finish unpacking all of the boxes yet.

Friday’s Feast

May 15, 2008

Appetizer
What is the nearest big city to your home?
I prefer to keep where I live private so I can’t answer this question.

Soup
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
9… I can keep a secret, but I do usually tell Rich everything.

Salad
Describe your hair (color, texture, length).
I hate my hair. The color is okay- it’s light brown. But, it’s very fine and very thin, so it always just hangs and doesn’t do anything I try to get it to do.

Main Course
What kind of driver are you?  Courteous?  Aggressive?  Slow?
I’m a courteous driver.

Dessert
When was the last time you had a really bad week?
Really bad? When I think about what people in China are going through after this earthquake I’m pretty sure I’ve never had a really bad week.
