Anyhoo, on with my thirteening. Last week I had no idea what to write about and a few of you gave me some great ideas. Thanks for your help, I’m going to be all set for the next several weeks.

Oh how lovely! And how true is number 7? ::sigh::
My favorite quote about children: “Anyone who says they sleep like a baby obviously doesn’t have one.” and “Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”
Happy TT!

#3 is a great one. Whomever said it hit the nail on the head. Too bad we can’t advertise that daily on the tube. Parents, it seems to me anyway, need to learn to be a better role model.
He seems to have been and still is a very strong influence on you….an icon that you tend to follow in his steps –if not physically yourself, you have his memory.
Perhaps he was stronger all those years and felt compelled to do better…after all he had YOU!! What more could a man want? Of course I never knew him…so, it’s just thoughts that crossed my mind as I read your list.
This was a poignant thirteen.

My favorites are numbers six and nine, but I really appreciated all of them. Children are great joy and sorrow, fear and pride…we let them go, but the cords are long.

And, my favorite from Proverbs: Train up a child in the way he shall go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. I count on that when I look at some of my seventeen year old’s decisions! I also really liked Jackie O’s quote here.

Too bad so many of us forget that when we’re raising our kids.

Great list, mine is up at 13 Not So Famous Last Words; Most Americans die peacefully in their beds, but for those who die violently one can only guess what their final words must have been. I think that after you read these you will have to agree that they do indeed sound like they might have been the last words of those who did not go peacefully into the night.
