Playing Dress Up

October 8, 2008

All little girls seem to love to play dress up.  When I taught pre-k I remember the dramatic play area was always a popular choice during free time.  All the little girls would put on their dress up clothes and pretend and be silly and have fun.

Now that Hailey is getting a little older I see her starting to do this.  She loves to wrap a blanket or a lace doily around herself and pretend she is dressed up in a dress.  It is so much fun to watch her do this.  The pretending that she is starting to do at this age is really adorable.

Last year she had just turned one right before Halloween and didn’t care what her costume was.  So, I picked this adorable Minnie Mouse outfit:

Isn’t she the cutest Minnie Mouse you have ever seen?

Now this year, Hailey cares more about what she is being.  She has recently started to really love Tinkerbell.  She talks about Tinkerbell all of the time and picked out Tinkerbell decorations for her birthday.  So, I thought she would love to be Tinkerbell for Halloween.  I started my search early and checked lots of Halloween Costume Stores to make sure I got the best deal.  Anyways, here is the costume we found:

Now obviously, she will be wearing something else under her costume, something that goes with the Tinkerbell dress.  And she will have her wings on too.  But this is just a quick idea of what she is going to be wearing.  I didn’t mind paying for this costume either because I know it will fit her for a while (it’s a size too big) and will be added to her dress up collection.

How cute. Girls do indeed love to place dress-up. My sister and I absolutely loved to do this too. Our mother wasn’t always so happy when we put on her best high heels though. Thanks for the memories. Have a great day. :)

She is a cute tinkerbell! Last year Ashlyn was a butterfly princess- she wore a long sleeve shirt and pants that were similar colors under her costume. This year she wanted to be Jasmine (the Disney princess). Of ocurse Jasmine has a belly shirt- so again this year she will be wearning clothes under her costume.
