Catching Up

January 28, 2009

Sometimes I tend to be a bit behind the times.  I like to let other people try things out, work out all the bugs, get it just right.  I watch safely from the sidelines and when everything seems safe, then I’ll jump aboard.

For example- I did not want a digital camera when they first came out.  No thank you.  I wanted to stick with my regular old camera that I knew and trusted.  Then once I saw there were others who had digital cameras and they printed their pictures out and they looked just fine I decided to give it a try.  Now with all of the pictures I take every day of Hailey I can’t even imagine if I didn’t have a digital camera.

There are these things called digital frames now.  Well, they have been around for a while, but I am just starting to warm up to the idea.  At first I thought about how much I love my photo albums and looking through them.  But a digital photo frame like the Ceiva digital photo frames can be used in addition to my photo albums.  It would be a fun way to display all of those pictures I take of Hailey. And right now at Ceiva I can get a frame for only 29.99 with purchase of year subscription to picture plan.  What a perfect time for me to catch up with the rest of the world and give this service a try!

Hushabye Baby Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed and the winner has been contacted.  Congrats Susan!

I remember when we first brought Hailey home from the hospital that I would sit in the rocking chair with her- holding her, rocking her, smelling that sweet baby smell and listening to lullabies play gently in the background. Now almost 2 1/2 years later when I hear one of those songs it brings me right back to that place. And sometimes it might even bring a little tear to my eye. It always amazes me how hearing a song can bring back such strong memories.

I have some new favorite lullaby music that I just have to share with you. The songs are lullaby renditions of country music such as Johnny Cash, Carrie Underwood, Patsy Cline, George Straight and more. I love country music so the Hushabye Baby lullabies are perfect. The music is so soothing and perfect for helping your baby fall asleep. And you’ll also enjoy the music as you hear it playing through the baby monitor. Check out how it sounds:

Hushabye Baby: Lullaby Renditions of George Strait

Fun Widget For Your Blog

There are so many things we can do to our blogs to spruce them up.  You can add buttons and widgets and links galore.  Of course you have to be careful not to go overboard.  Too much looks cluttered and confusing.  But not enough looks empty and bare.  It’s hard to find that happy medium.

So today I was checking out a new widget called the Amy Poehler CozmoTV widget. It’s a video player that plays interviews done by Amy Poehler (you will probably recognize her from Saturday Night Live).  Amy Poehler interviews a variety of girls of different ages with different interests.  And each girl is important and has a special talent even though she might not be well known and famous.  It sends a good message to our girls- with so many negative messages out there it’s nice to see something positive.

If you are interested in checking out the Amy Poehler CozmoTV widget you can get an idea of what it is right here:

If you like the widget you can display it on your blog, on MySpace, Facebook, etc.  If you’re interested in doing that then you can go ahead and get your own widget here

Life’s Building Blocks Newsletter

January 27, 2009

Back in December I had a giveaway for one of my favorite toys that Hailey has had a chance to check out for the reviews that we do.  Both of us loved Zaki the chameleon.  Hailey loves him because he sings and tells stories.  I love him because he can help parents with the tough job of building character in our children.

Life’s Building Blocks (the company that makes Zaki) now has a free newsletter that they are sending out with a lot of advice, ideas and tips for parents trying their best to bring their kids up right these days.  Stop by and sign up for the free newsletter- you’ll be glad you did!
