Facebook

April 21, 2009

So do you use Facebook?

I joined quite a while ago but never actually used it for a long time.  People were requesting to be my friends but I just never signed on to confirm anyone.  After a while I started playing around with the site and finding friends from my past.  I started really enjoying it.

I am very careful of who I have as a friend on Facebook.  Everyone on there is someone I know in real life except for a couple.  Those I don’t know in real life are friends I met through blogging, people I really consider to be a friend.

So, I just wondered- how many of my readers are using Facebook these days?  What do you think about the site?

It’s Time!

April 16, 2009

Now that spring is here- it’s time to get back in shape.  Last fall I was doing pretty good and was only about 10 pounds away from my goal weight.  Now?  I’m a bit further away from my goal.  All of this stress of moving and not being able to find a house has taken its toll.  I’ve been snacking way too much lately and not working out at all.

So, a few days ago I decided it was time to start walking everyday.  I was curious to see how much walking I do on a regular day without any effort towards actual exercising.  I put my pedometer on and did my normal stuff.  At the end of the day I had taken over 13,000 steps.  I figured it must have been wrong.  But the next day- same result.  More than 13,000 steps.  No wonder I’m so tired at the end of the day!  Now just image if I did some meaningful exercise and less snacking- I could be on my way to being healthy.  Right now- this is how I do my walking:

Our Happy Happenings

Yup- inside, in my slippers.  Maybe if I put some shoes on and got outside, I would be healthier!

Plus, from now until October 31 Bumble Bee Foods will donate $.15 for every mile you log on the BeeWell Miles site.  The money is being donated to the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. Every 2000 steps counts as a mile.  So, if I walked around 13,000 steps each day that would be 6.5 miles- $.97 per day.  I could help raise almost $175 just by logging my regular steps.  If I add some exercise to my day- say 2 miles per day, that would be another $54.  So you can see how it really adds up quickly.  I’d be healthier and helping someone is need.  What could be better than that?

Free Music

April 9, 2009

Know what I love?  Free things.  Know what else I love?  Music.  So- put the two together- free music and you have a definite winner!

But do you know what I don’t like?  I don’t like the sites that let you illegally download music for free.  There are tons of those sites out there.  I’m sure you’ve heard about those sites- you can share your music with others and download other people’s music.  The problem with this is that when you get music that way, you are stealing. Most of you would never dream of walking into a store and stealing a CD but so many people don’t even think twice about stealing music online.  It’s just as wrong.  The artists who worked hard to create the music aren’t getting anything for it.

Well, Kerchoonz is changing that.  You can get music for free from their site.  And every time someone downloads a song from Kerchoonz the artist gets paid.  It’s an ad based site which means it is totally free for you and me but money is being generated from the ads so there is money to pay the artists.  It’s a win-win!  So if you love music and you love free music be sure to check out Kerchoonz.
