Bill Cosby

November 16, 2009

Here are some of my favorite quotes by Bill Cosby.

  1. Human beings are the only creatures on earth that allow their children to come back home.
  2. I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.
  3. Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap on-a-rope.
  4. I am not the boss of my house. I don’t know when I lost it. I don’t know if I ever had it. But I have seen the boss’s job and I do not want it.
  5. Women don’t want to hear what you think. Women want to hear what they think– in a deeper voice.
  6. Old is always fifteen years from now.
  7. Let us now set forth one of the fundamental truths about marriage: the wife is in charge.
  8. You know the only people who are always sure about the proper way to raise children? Those who’ve never had any.
  9. Sigmund Freud once said, “What do women want?” The only thing I have learned in fifty-two years is that women want men to stop asking dumb questions like that.
  10. No matter how calmly you try to referee, parenting will eventually produce bizarre behavior, and I’m not talking about the kids. Their behavior is always normal.
  11. In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.
  12. Parents are not interested in justice, they’re interested in peace and quiet.
  13. Men and women belong to different species and communications between them is still in its infancy.

DVD Ranger

Do you have tons of DVDs?  I know we have a lot of DVDs at our house.  Some are movies we have bought and some are movies that we have taken of Hailey.  I would be pretty upset if we ever lost our DVDs of Hailey.  Now that I’m thinking about it, I need to start taking a lot more movies of her.  Anyhoo- there is a way to back up all of your DVDs- your movies as well as your home movies.  That way you wouldn’t have to worry about losing all of your DVDs.  How can you back all of your DVDs up?  By using the dvd-ranger program.

The DVD Ranger program can be used to back up your DVDs or it can be also be used to update your DVDs to BluRay. You can also use the DVD Ranger program to make it so that you can enjoy your movies on the go.  You can put your DVDs onto your iPod, PSP, and so much more.

If you have a lot of DVDs and you are looking for a way to protect your movies or a way to be able to watch them on the go, you’re going to want to check out the DVD Ranger program.

Fun With Citiblocs

Hailey has tons of toys- way too many, as I’m sure your kids do too.  But recently Hailey got a new toy that I am really glad I said yes to.  This is one toy that doesn’t take up very much space, is lots of fun and will last for a very long time. What is this great toy?  Citiblocs.

Check out some of the fun we have had with the Citiblocs:

Our Happy Happenings

A truck that I helped Hailey build.

Our Happy Happenings

Hailey really wanted to make a train, so here she is working on the railroad tracks.

Our Happy Happenings

Our finished train.

Later that week my parents came over for a visit and Hailey wanted my dad to help her build the train again.

Our Happy Happenings

She was very proud of the end result.

The blocks are made out of pine and are very lightweight.  Since they are all the exact same size they are easy to build with.  The package of Citiblocs comes with a little booklet with pictures of different things you can build- great for giving us some ideas of things to make.

Every precision-cut pine piece is exactly the same shape and size and it’s surprisingly
lightweight. The wooden blocks, crafted in Vietnam from New Zealand trees, don’t require glue, snaps, or connectors. Big and little kids simply supply gravity, balance, imagination and a flat surface! Imaginative kids can open the box and make a castle, then create a whole kingdom. Knock it down for a swirly skyscraper or a big wooden creature. Ideal for children ages 3 and up, grownups like to play with them too! While busy building, balancing and designing, tykes can learn the basics of architecture, mathematics and science.

Searching

November 11, 2009

Today I was searching online for some fun Thanksgiving or Turkey related activities and crafts to do with Hailey.  Now I have performed this search before but I am always hoping to find something new and different than the usual crafts that everyone is doing at this time of year.  So, instead of using the search engine that I usually use I tried something different- leapfish.

I really liked how Leapfish worked.  Rather than the usual search results that I would have normally gotten- the results were broken down into categories.  There was a section with web results, another section with blog results and a section with image results.  I was able to get tons of new ideas that I am going to use over the next couple of weeks with Hailey (be sure to check out my Our Crafts ~N~ Things blog to see what we do!).

I did another Leapfish search for a more general topic to see how it worked.  I searched Jay Leno and I love how it’s broken down- a section with news results, wikepedia, web results, video results, twitter results, blog results and image results.  It’s so different than any other search engine and I just love it! Check out this video for more information about Leapfish:
