Photo Hunt- Shoes

May 24, 2008

I haven’t played along with Photo Hunt in a few weeks, so it’s time to get back in there and play along.  The theme for this week is shoes.

This picture was taken on Easter in 2007- Hailey’s first Easter.  She is wearing some very special shoes (yes, I know they are a little hard to see) that my parents gave her.  One shoe has her name on it and the other one has her birthday on it.  This picture was the first time she wore her new shoes to church.

Stop by TNChick to see who else participated in Photo Hunt this week.

Babies Don’t Keep

March 18, 2008

When I was a baby, my Grammy shared this poem with my Mom. Now my Mom has shared it with me. I say this poem to myself everyday- especially when I get a little behind in my housework.

Cleaning and cooking can wait ’til tomorrow,
For babies grow up as we’ve learned to our sorrow.
So, quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep,
I’m rocking my baby, and babies don’t keep.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

March 17, 2008

Hailey and I went to a St. Patrick’s Day party with the mommy group we’re involved in. We had a blast, so I had to share a few pictures.

Livin’ With Me

I took this soon after we arrived.  Hailey stood back for a few minutes taking everything in before she joined the other kids in playing.

Livin’ With Me

Hailey loves coloring, so this craft was great.  Actually she loves taking the crayons and markers in and out of the containers more than she likes the actual coloring part.

Livin’ With Me

Hailey looks a bit sad here, but she wasn’t.  I think she was once again taking everything in.

Hailey loved playing with her friends and we had a great time.  And of course I loved having other moms to talk to.  After we got home she insisted on wearing her St. Patrick’s Day necklace and lei. They kept her busy for most of the afternoon while she put them on and off herself and her dolls.

Five Things

March 9, 2008

5 things I want my kids to know:

  • I will love you and accept you no matter what- even when you make choices that are wrong that will not change that I love you unconditionally.
  • None of us are perfect, it’s okay to make mistakes.
  • Who you are on the inside is what matters- if you are beautiful on the inside you will be beautiful on the outside too.
  • You can come to me with anything- no matter what or when I want you to know that you can tell me absolutely anything.
  • While I love you more than you can possibly know- God loves you even more than that.  That is even hard for me to comprehend.

5 things you want to tell your children when they are grown up:

  • You are worth it all- worth everything we went through trying to conceive you, worth all the sleepless nights and worth all of the worry, the tears, the pain- just worth it all.
  • Do what makes you happy.  Money doesn’t matter if you are unhappy.
  • Now that you are an adult- we can be friends, best friends I hope.  When you were a child my job was to be your mom, not your friend.
  • Have respect for everyone.  Remember Matthew 25:40- The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
  • Don’t forget to call your mother.  At least once a day.

5 things you want to tell your child before you die:

  • Someday I will be gone, but God will always be there for you.
  • I did my best and gave you everything I possibly could.
  • You brought me more joy and happiness that you can ever know.
  • I loved going to Disney World just as much as you did.
  • I will be waiting for you in Heaven.

5 things you want your child to know before she dies:

  • What it feels like to fall in love.
  • The wonderful feeling of marrying the right man.
  • What it feels like to have and love her own children, with the man she fell in love with and married.
  • True happiness
  • That she is a Christian and that she will be spending eternity in Heaven.
