A Safe New Years

Thanks for the post, Jennifer Mcconnell

New Year’s is a festive wind down to the extensive holiday season. It is a time to look back on the year that has passed, and look ahead with hope at the year to come. Many may go to bars and clubs and celebrate with numerous rounds of drinks. Although, it may be just as festive and as enjoyable getting together with a few friends and enjoying the festivities with a small party.

While this will not be quite as exciting as the bar scene, it will offer a more personal and safer environment. Just be sure to set your Allhomesecurity security alarm Everyone can bring a favorite dish to pass and even the recipe and/or ingredients for their favorite beverage. The children can even join in the fun, while the hour remains appropriate. This will allow for the reminiscence of many great memories, and lets everyone begin the year with with new, happy memories.

New Years’ can be dangerous when individuals indulge a little too much with the beverages and then decide to drive. Going to a get together with friends will assure that no one gets behind the wheel while they have been drinking. The individual can either catch a ride home with a sober person from the party, or they can sleep on a sofa for the evening.

However one chooses to celebrate, be safe, and avoid driving after consuming alcohol.

Once upon a time (before I was a mom) I thought it was fun to go out and shop around at various stores. I’d have an item that I wanted and I would shop around at different stores checking out prices and trying to find the best deal. It was fun to me to go to the stores and actually shop.

Now? I’m a mom and while I still enjoy shopping it has changed quite a bit for me. I prefer to do my shopping from home, right in front of my computer. Hailey can happily play with her toys while I do my shopping and price comparisons at home. Then we’re both happy. There is no getting her in and out of her car seat 20 times per day. Or fighting with her to stay in her stroller while I shop. Or listening to the whining and complaining. You moms know what I’m talking about!

So before you make your next purchase why not check out shopping online and see what kind of deals you can find!

Every Christmas, my family and I play a fun game we call the “Christmas Lights Game.” We do this whenever we can. Sometimes we play it when we are already out running errands. Other times, we leave our house, setting our Security Choice home alarm in the process, and go to our family car.

The rules of the game are this. While driving around, we look for Christmas lights and decorations. When someone spots a house with lights, he or she calls out “Christmas Lights!” He or she is then awarded one point. If they call out “Christmas Lights” and there are no lights there, they get minus one point – this prevents people from simply constantly yelling out Christmas Lights to get all the points. The player who gets the most points (by noticing the most houses with decorations) “wins” the game and gets to decide where we go for dinner, or some other prize.

We don’t always make looking at Christmas lights a competitive endeavor. Sometimes it’s just fun driving around and simply looking at the great displays. There are a number of houses in our town that are well-known for the majesty and complexity of their Christmas decorations, so we always make it a point every year to check out these homes and see if they’ve upgraded. Whatever we do, looking at lights and decorations is a holiday tradition that we all enjoy.

I am always looking for ways to try to be healthier. I try to exercise and try to eat healthy. I try to get enough sleep, but Hailey doesn’t always cooperate with that plan. Recently I’ve noticed when I look in the mirror that I am starting to look older. Now, I have always looked quite a bit younger than I am. When I was in my late teens and early twenties it really bothered me that people thought I was so young. Now that I am 30 something I really like hearing people tell me they think I only look 20. But the lack of sleep that being a mommy brings and several stressful things that have happened are starting to make me look a little older.

Every year I always go to a whole lot of trouble baking Christmas cookies that seem to disappear as soon as my husband and kids descend upon them. Well, I decided that this year I’m not going to bake cookies. Instead, I’m going to just make them. That’s right, I’m going to fix some no-bake cookies instead. I’m not that big of a Scrooge.

I went online to try and see if there were any recipes for no-bake cookies that were especially festive for the holidays and while I was doing that I came across some clear bundle pricing information and decided to order the service.

I already made a batch of classic no-bake Christmas cookies, even though I also plan on making a few different versions of no-bake cookies up until Christmas. I think that for my next batch I might even add in some Christmas-y looking sprinkles to make them look especially festive and because it isn’t the most practical thing in the world to decorate those kinds of cookies with icing like you would regular sugar cookies.

I guess that some people may say that a Barbie is kind of an early gift for a 3-year-old, but I decided to go ahead and buy one for my daughter. She’s really into playing with baby dolls anyway so it would only make sense that she would love Barbies.

But I actually got the idea to give her that for Christmas when I was out shopping for my niece. She’s 6 and my sister told me to just pick her out a Barbie for Christmas. So when I was looking at Barbies online I was thinking about how much I was looking forward to buying Barbies for my daugther. That’s actually also when I found some information about a new internet service and I chose to sign up for one of its packages for our home internet service.

Well, I went ahead and ordered a really simple Barbie for her so that there wouldn’t be a bunch of small parts for her to put in her mouth. When I open it for her I’m going to take away the shoes and any other small parts.

In your opinion, who are the top three teams in college football right now? Quick. Don’t think about it. It should be the first three teams that come to your mind. If you’re like most college football fans, the answer will be Auburn, Oregon, and TCU. This is because these are the current ranking. But even if you throw away the rankings and you make your own, you would probably put Wisconsin and Ohio State in there. There is one team that most people don’t put in there for some reason, which is Stanford. Has everyone forgotten what this team is capable of? Have people been witnessing their dominance on the gridiron? These guys win in an interesting fashion. They’re not flashy and they’re not methodical, either. They’re what would be known as a very solid and intelligent team. They don’t make stupid mistakes and they’re very efficient in everything they do. They also display poise when they’re down. There is no doubt that we will see Stanford in a championship game, and when they play, Im going to watch it on my Satellite TV deals. I will enjoy watching them pound on whoever they play. I will enjoy it even more when they are then brought up in national title game talks. If you think this is not possible, you havent been paying attention. Watch them play once and you will understand.

For 2010, the MAC championship game will feature Northern Illinois against Miami (Ohio). I’d like to see it because it’s being played only a few minutes’ drive away at Ford Field in downtown Detroit. I’m looking forward to seeing two Midwestern teams face off.

Northern Illinois is ranked 25th in the nation, for its first top-25 ranking since 2003. I’m rooting for quarterback Chandler Harnish to have a big game. He’s a dual-threat pass-run quarterback with a solid arm and quick feet. I think Miami (Ohio) will have a tough time shutting him down with their defense. I’m a little surprised by Northern Illinois’ success this year, but the program has been providing steady competition every season.

Miami (Ohio) went 1-11 in Michael Haywood’s first season as head coach last year. But this year, he managed to turn the team around. A respectable 8-4, I don’t think Miami (Ohio) quite has the depth to contend with Northern Illinois. I can definitely see them improving though. Miami (Ohio) should be a perennial contender if Haywood can keep recruiting his kind of players.

Although the MAC championship game may not be as glamorous as some of the other conferences’ championship games, I’ll be watching it on Direct TV Satellite Deals. Since my hometown Big Ten conference doesn’t have a championship game, I’ll settle for one that’s being played nearby.

So we are thinking about making the switch over to Direct TV. We only have very basic cable right now- just a few local channels for about $5 per month. We’d like some more channels but to add digital cable to our plan would make our cable go up to about $70 per month. Or we can go with Direct TV and an offer we got in the mail for $25 per month for pretty much the same thing. Our cable company doesn’t seem to care, so we’ll probably go ahead and make the switch. The only thing holding me back is the 2 year service agreement with Direct TV. So does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the matter?
