Thursday Thirteen #33

October 9, 2008

I am so far behind is so many things that this week I am making myself a to-do list for my Thursday Thirteen.  Not very exciting for you, I know.  But I just have to get tons of stuff done.

  1. Take Hailey to the doctor for her 2 year check up.
  2. Unpack from our recent trip to visit family for Hailey’s 2nd birthday.
  3. Laundry- wash it and put it away.
  4. Go through all of the mail that accumulated while we were away.
  5. Thursday is bill day, so pay the bills.
  6. Catch up on my email… I have so many people waiting for responses from me about reviews that I just can’t keep up.
  7. Finish our financial records for the month of August and the month of September.
  8. Work on the bedroom switch we are the middle of doing.
  9. Start finding new homes for all of Hailey’s new toys from her birthday.
  10. Write at least 5 Thank You notes for Hailey’s presents.
  11. Make a grocery list.
  12. Go grocery shopping.
  13. Take Hailey outside to play for a little while since we have some nice weather today.

Thursday Thirteen #31

September 24, 2008

For my especially exciting and creative list for this week, I am going to list 13 things I did on Wednesday.  Oh yes- my dear readers- the excitement around here is unbelievable.

  1. Made waffles for Hailey for breakfast.  Don’t be too impressed though- I actually made waffles last week for dinner and there were extras.  Whenever this happens I freeze the extras and then when Hailey wants waffles for breakfast I can just pop one in the toaster.
  2. Waited for about 20 minutes as Hailey emptied out her drawer filled with pants looking for something that would match her shirt.  Now I gave her some choices that would match, but she had to empty and fill her drawer over and over again to look for herself.
  3. I put a whole bunch of laundry away.  I don’t know why but I always have mountains of clean laundry to put away.
  4. Hailey and I did some Tot School stuff, which you can read more about on my Our Crafts ~N~ Things blog.
  5. Made ham and cheese for Hailey for lunch.
  6. Put Hailey down for her nap at 1pm.
  7. I actually laid down for a little while during Hailey’s nap.  Usually I get lots of stuff done during this time, but I have not been feeling very good, so I laid down for a while.  My head hurt too much for me to actually fall asleep, but I rested.
  8. I couldn’t believe it but Hailey actually slept in her own bed for 2 hours.  She didn’t wake up until 3pm.  Usually she wakes up after about 45 minutes or an hour and then I put her on my bed where she falls back asleep for the rest of her nap.  Of course, being the worrier that I am- I worried that she slept so well because she is getting sick.
  9. After Hailey’s nap we (Rich, me and Hailey) went to Toys R Us.  I was there on Tuesday shopping for Hailey’s birthday and I happened to find a Halloween costume that I have been searching for.  So, I bought it.  But, it was supposed to come with wings, which I realized weren’t there when we got home on Tuesday when I went to try the costume on Hailey.  I called and they found the wings and set them aside for me.  And so, I had to go back on Wednesday to pick up the wings.
  10. We stopped at McDonald’s and picked up food for dinner.  We took the food to the park to eat.  Hailey will never eat when we do that because she is too worried about getting on the swings and slides.  So while Rich and I ate, Hailey called out “My swing NOW!  My slide NOW!”
  11. Hailey played on the playground for a while.  Then we fed some ducks in the lake and watched the boats.  Then Hailey played some more on the playground and found a couple of new friends.
  12. When it was time to go, Hailey threw an unbelievable tantrum.  I had given her the five minute warning that we were leaving soon, but it did not help one little bit.  She screamed all the way to the car and it took both Rich and me to get her into her car seat.  And she also screamed all the way home.  And also, once we were home- the screaming continued.  Fun times.
  13. Now Hailey is sound asleep in bed and I’m hoping that all of the running around at the park and the screaming on the way home will help her to get a good nights sleep.

If you’re still awake after reading all of that fun- stop by Thursday Thirteen to see the other participants.

Thursday Thirteen #30

September 18, 2008

Happy 30th Thursday Thirteen to me!  And now, on with my thirteening.  Today I have a list of a variety of interesting questions.

  1. Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting dead?
  2. Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?
  3. If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?
  4. Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?
  5. Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that’s falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
  6. Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
  7. Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?
  8. Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
  9. Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?
  10. How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?
  11. In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?
  12. How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?
  13. Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
